How I keep going

It was a pretty rotten day. I won't go into details, but Boston was basically a city full of screaming, drunken animals; the Patriots parade, you know.

I never liked high school and college boys, and this morning the train was packed full of them. Inconsiderate bastards, every one of them. I couldn't help but feel that the species would be enormously improved if every one of them was removed from the gene pool.

I had to leave early in the day; there was an emergency at home (it's okay now). But I had to struggle through crowds of sub-humanoids. The first trolley to stop was packed with idiots - in the front. There was lots of space in the back. But those Patriot-worshiping morons wouldn't move, and the driver threw everyone who was trying to get onto the train off.

The next driver opened all the doors, and I was able to squeeze on. Caught my commuter train just in time, and made it home. All in all, a very stressful day.

But tonight, Sebastian asked me to lie down next to him after his bedtime story. He was a little fidgety. After about ten minutes of silence, he suddenly said in the most grown-up voice imaginable:

"People never die, Daddy".

"Huh?"

"People never die. No way, nope."

"They don't?"

(very firmly) "No they don't."

I have no idea where that came from. But that's how I get through days like today.
