That particular error is extremely common these days, even though it's something that even I can spot. Most likely due to a slavish reliance on spell check in Word and whatever, I expect. It's one of the drawbacks of a technologically advanced society; we develop machines that allow us to be stupid. Note that in a recent power outage (I think in Memphis specifically, but the same thing probably happened in the Big One) older employees at stores ended up doing checkout because the kids weren't able to make change.
Maybe the answer to the Fermi Paradox is that when you get to a certain level of tech you can no longer survive if it crashes from more than a short time. :)
