Clippers

Time to post about something frivolous!

I like nail clippers. I like to keep my nails neat. When I was young I used to bite them a lot, but as I got older I started worrying about breaking a tooth on a nail. So I've been using nail clippers, nail files, and emery boards for a long time.

Sebastian uses them too. This has led to a bit of a problem; I got him his own clippers, but he tends to lose them and borrow mine, although he swears that he doesn't. I can't prove anything, but the fact remains that my nail clippers keep disappearing. Sebastian also claims to have incredibly tough thumbnails; he actually broke a pair of clippers on them once.

The last ones I bought for both of us were Tweezerman clippers. They were the best I'd tried up to that point, and we both liked them. But as with all of my clippers (except an incredibly powerful and intimidating pair that look like wire cutters, and are presumably designed for old people's big toes), they eventually disappeared.

Okay. I didn't want to just buy more clippers only to end up losing them or having them break. And I wanted the best clippers I could find. So I did some research online. I found that Green Bell clippers from Japan were pretty much top-rated. They weren't too expensive - $23, as I recall - so I got a pair for myself.

Wow. They went through my nails as though they were butter. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before, clipper-wise. And there was a fine high-quality file built into the back of the handle, although the cuts were so smooth that I rarely needed them. I liked them so much that I got Sebastian a pair, too. He texted me as soon as he used them (I was working), and said they were like "a hot knife through butter".

So if you're looking for a really good set of nail clippers, we both recommend Green Bell G-1205. Now if I can just make sure we don't lose them!
