Enormous fire 1-2 miles away

Just a follow-up to my previous voice post - there's another mill building on fire here in Woonsocket, probably about two miles away, at a guess. The fire looked to be about the size of an entire city block; we're talking a major fire. An adjacent apartment building has been destroyed, as well as a nearby residential house. Others are threatened.

The smoke is blowing in the general direction of our house. This was a textile mill, presumably of the WWII era; I hope there's nothing too toxic in it.

Incidentally, there have been no reports of any deaths so far. Although there has been nothing at all on TV about this fire yet, which frankly amazes me. The last mill fire here (which were the buildings next to the one that's going up now, ironically) got a hell of a lot of coverage. Maybe it's still too early.

So you heard it here first!

I only wish I'd had the camera when we drove nearby. But Sebastian was scared, and I was rather nervous myself. I wouldn't have gone so close, but Teri was driving.

Just to repeat, we're fine. We're on the other side of the river from the fire, and at least a mile. The prevailing winds are taking the smoke towards our house, but we're almost certainly too far for any fire-starting embers or cinders. We'll have to get the car washed, though.

There's a gas station near the mills, and it has some large propane storage tanks as well, but according to the report I just heard on the radio, the winds are taking the fire away from those - and even if they explode, we'd probably be okay anyway.
