DEMS WIN SENATE

The AP has called it, and the story says that Allen will probably concede tomorrow unless Webb's 7,000-vote lead shrinks dramatically.

Barring some hellish, unforeseen surprise, the Democrats will take control of the Senate. The only fly in the ointment is that that whore, Joe Lieberman, will be essential to that control, and I think he's determined to screw the Democrats as savagely as he can while still remaining - nominally - in the party. Still, the Dems will control the committee assignments and agenda in BOTH branches of Congress.

We're not in the clear yet - oh, not by a long shot - but at the risk of sounding over-dramatic, I think America just took a good long step away from fascism.

I really wish there were some people around here to party with! And I'm the least-partying guy in the world.

The cynic in me and the me that is conditioned to accept defeat in every single election in my adult life (being reasonable in Georgia can be frustating) that I am waiting for something to happen.

I think it's a really, really big change. Mind you, if people expect too much they're going to be disappointed; as Steven Wright said "You can't have everything; where would you put it?"

Okay, that might not have made any sense. :)

It will be interesting to see what Bush and the rest of the Administration end up doing. To what extent will Bush elect to just ignore the Congress? He probably can't launch a war against Iran without Congressional support without really massive subterfuge, but there might be other stunts he'll pull.

Hopefully, all the hidden abuses and crime can come out and guilty parties removed from their posts. And maybe those few people who still support the Republicans will see that there has been a problem.

Isn't it FABULOUS OMG!!!

I actually got wasted while watching the returns come in... I'd been planning on drinking to make watching them hurt less, but I ended up drinking in celebration. YAY!

And the Cool Thing is...

The Repubs will have to live by the new minority party suppression rules that they themselves instituted!

And I hope that before the new Congress comes in Bush tries to get approval for the new Secty of Defense and the Democrats try to filibuster and the Repubs institute the nuclear (nukular)option. Please let that happen!
