Grrr...daycare annoyances

Our daycare (Wee Folk of Bellingham, MA) fucked up last year and failed to notify us that we'd missed a payment.

Here's the thing: we sent in a payment every month. We just didn't know that we were supposed to make thirteen payments a year. So we were supposed to make two payments in July '05. They didn't bill, and they didn't realize what had happened until last week, when they apparently upgraded their computer.

So now we have to come up with $625. Since we don't have it, they're going to add it on as incremental payments on every forthcoming bill for the year. Which means that our monthly expenditures just took a small but painful jump upward.

Grrr...I'll NEVER get a new computer. Never.

You ought to tell them (and I wish you would) that because it took them WELL over a year to catch their error (and it was their error) that you shouldn't have to pay it.

Thirteen payments a year? Is their logic paying every four weeks or some silly-ass thing? There's something betweem absurd, stupid, and criminal about their actions. Seriously, if they didn't clarify in writing that there are supposed to be thirteen payments a year that sounds a heck of a lot like fraud on their part, something that a sufficiently crazy person might sue over.

Is there some paperwork related to this? Seriously.

Gotta Agree this seems a bit flaky.

I agree with you, but apparently it WAS in the contract. And if we fight them on this, we might end up having to find a new daycare for Sebastian.

Unfortunately, since Teri is now working three days a week, we can't really do that. Teri can't take days off at this point, and we don't have anyone to take care of him while we look for a new facility. Plus, I imagine it might be difficult to find on with openings right now...not to mention one that's conveniently located.

So it looks like we'll just have to take the hit, this time. At least they're not demanding the entire sum immediately.

Incidentally, I haven't spoken to them at all. Teri talks to them when she picks up Sebastian, and then the two of them pick me up at the train.

I should dig up the contract, I guess.

Yeah, I'm never getting a new computer either.
