The Bush Legacy
My comment on an essay in the Washington Post which claimed that time was on George W. Bush's side, in terms of his legacy:
An interesting example of attempted reality modification, and as such, perfectly in character with the Bush administration itself.
As for time being on George W. Bush's side...that could only be the case if we presume that A) Bush and his people actually manage to improve the lot of the American people, which would be grossly out of character, and B) no further information will come to light exposing additional mismanagement, corruption, and mendacity on the part of Bush et alia.
Given the breaking news of Rumsfeld's memo admitting that the Administration's claims of the success of the Iraq war are simply false, it seems likely that history will only hurt George W. Bush, not help him.
Fortunately an apparatchik like Vincent J. Cannato will hardly be in a position to make any difference in the judgement of history - particularly after publishing an essay as credibility-destroying as this one.
