More Christmas memories

Two nights ago in the middle of the night Sebastian suddenly called, loudly, from his room.

"Dad!"

"What is it, baby boy?" I answered, jumping out of bed and running to his room.

"You didn't read me a story."

"Yes I did! I read you two Frog and Toad stories, when Toad lost a button, and when Frog and Toad went swimming."

Then I recapped the stories for him from memory in the dark. Before long he was asleep again.

Several hours later, at perhaps 3 or 4 AM, he came over to our bed and crawled in at the foot of it. After a while, he suddenly started singing - fairly loudly - "Hark the Herald Angels Sing". He doesn't really know the words that well, so his version was filled with made-up lyrics. It was quite funny.

Sebastian still hadn't had his letter from Santa read to him by this afternoon, so I picked it up and read it to him.

"Dear Billy: You're getting extra presents this year, because I'm giving you some of the toys that would have been going to a naughty boy named Sebastian - "

At that point I cracked up from the thunderous scowl on Sebastian's face. I immediately admitted that I was joking. "That's NOT FUNNY!" he replied.
