Gore
Just wrote a long comment to the Post's Chris Cillizza in their regular Post Politics chat. I have a good track record on those chats; almost all of my questions and comments are selected for a response. Sometimes I suspect that's partly because "Woonsocket, RI" is such an interesting name. :D
Anyway, Cillizza asked for feedback on how we thought Al Gore was doing, and on his possible candidacy. I couldn't help responding:
Please note, that last paragraph WAS included in my comment. But I'll bet that he still won't take the bait.
Two Seconds Later: I was wrong, he took the bait. But he didn't really respond, just wrote "One view on a Gore candidacy....".

How's Gore doing? Well, I just watched "The Inconvenient Truth" a few days ago, and I have to say that he's the ONLY major public figure who has a real record of seriously addressing the most important issue our species has faced in millennia.
That said, should he run? Hell no! The media would fall all over themselves to kneecap him again. He wears funny-looking suits. He sighs. He rolls his eyes. He's too self-satisfied. Too intellectual. Not a guy you'd want to have a beer with.
Well, you in the media helped install the non-intellectual beer-buddy you so desperately wanted, and look where he took us. Look at what has happened to the credibility of the mass media, for that matter! Could the mainstream press BE any more of a toady to the interests of the elite?
The Libby trial makes it clear that the answer is a resounding "No".
A Gore candidacy would just be an excuse for the media to indulge the worst of their shallow, mindless wolf-pack behavior. And a Gore Presidency (unlikely as that is) would be an endless, agonizing attempt to drag this country and the world back from the brink of ecological meltdown. All while under constant attack by the right-wing noise machine and a media which is always happy to comply with the interests of their owners.
Boy. Is there anything more I could say to make it even LESS likely that this question will be chosen? :D
