I've seen that tape. Perhaps it's because library books see such heavy use, but every time I see a book that has been taped with that stuff, I notice that corners of the tape are curled up and dirty. I wonder why; maybe people pick at it, or maybe it's because the tape is relatively thicker and therefore the edges are more likely to catch on surfaces that move against them. I don't know.
