The computer is now in the healing hands of Charibdis, with a possible assist from the stubbornly still-non-blogging Klyfix. Things are happening; we'll see how it goes.
I got an email back from Atari blaming DirectX for the problem. They gave some suggestions (too late), and told me to talk to Microsoft for any further help. Gee, thanks.
