Senator Reid
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been doing everything he can to pass the Bush Administration's FISA bill in the exact form that Bush requested, including immunity for the telecom industry. That would give the Bush Administration a complete coverup for their blatant violation of FISA - spying on us all, in other words, without even a warrant.
Senator Dodd put a hold on the FISA legislation. Normally that would block the bill. Certainly whenever a Republican Senator puts a hold on a bill, Reid honors it - no matter how large the majority is in favor of it.
Reid claimed that he would honor Dodd's hold...and then didn't.
There's a petition online at FireDogLake urging Reid to uphold Dodd's hold. I signed it. I hope you will too.

I have been a lifelong Democrat. The utter failure of the party leadership to put even in the slightest crimp in the Bush Administration's lawlessness horrifies me - it surpasses even McCarthyism as a threat to our representative democracy.
Perhaps you believe that if you do not capitulate to the Administration, you will be castigated in the press for obstructionism. That may be true, but I assure you that the voters who gave the Democrats the majority know better.
Sir, the Democratic Party leadership in the Senate can betray the Constitution and the core values of the American people only so far. The behavior of the party leadership over the past seven years is simply incomprehensible to me and to every other Democrat I know. If the Party stands for nothing, we will not stand for the Party.

I Think We Need to Create a New Term in Honor of Those ******** Reid and Pelosi...
My mom and grandparents call Republicans who aren't up to their standards RINOs, so I think we should call traitorous Dems DINOs.
