There are, of course, things just as annoying. I recently got a letter (surface mail not email) from our local rep over a letter I had written him in email as part of an EFF effort to stop a misguided and badly worded piece of legislation regarding copyright law from being passed.
Basically the response from the politician was (in paraphrase) "Thanks for your letter. I'll keep your opinion in mind on this subject." In other words, I refuse to tell you what I feel or how I'll vote but I'll pretend that what you had to say will in some way affect my decision. When I get enough letters one way or another from enough people that I consider to matter I'll make up my mind on the issue, or maybe I'll wait for someone else to persuade me how to vote. In other words, I have no opinion, this is too tough an issue for me to read the facts and decide or purely act upon what my constuants want.
no subject

Wishy Washy Pandering.
Sigh.
