Wild Kingdom (on the Franklin Line)

It was an odd morning. First I woke up from some bizarre dream; I was at some sort of huge con (possibly WorldCon), but it was chaotic, weird, and filled with lots of old stuff. Found a book for sale that had to be at least 50 years old; a hardcover with a broken spine. But to my amazement it was a novel about the lives of some roleplaying/SF geeks. Obviously impossible.

Our drive in to the train station was fairly hair-raising. We got caught behind some idiot who was towing a trailer and going 20mph on a road with a 45mph speed limit; he was leading a mile-long line of cars. Finally he turned off. But we were caught behind three school buses after that, and it looked like we would miss the train.

On the way we passed a frozen pond. Several fake swans were stuck in the ice, but there was a flock of Canada geese walking around on the ice. It made a very strange picture, or would have if we'd had a camera.

We pulled into the station at the same time as the train, and Sebastian and I ran to make it (well, I ran, and I carried Sebastian). On the ride, we saw a white-tailed deer running across a field. I said, almost shouting, "Look, a deer!" Sebastian was looking in the right direction, but he didn't react much, so I don't know if he saw it.

When we got to Ruggles station Sebastian was a bit nervous. This was his first trip since he'd gotten his foot caught, and we knew he remembered the incident because he'd told Teri about it again this morning. So I carried him off the train and told him there was nothing to be scared of. He seemed to be fine, but when the diesel engine passed us he started crying and dragged me up the nearest stairs to get away from it. But once we had escaped the terrible engine (and it is loud, I admit), he was fine.

Still no computer at home, and I may soon lose all access to webmail at work, too. There are no words.
