Well, I'm back. The party went wonderfully - I can't tell you how great it was to see so many old friends again, not to mention my family! It made me really wish I could see everyone much more often, though.
I was pretty nervous this morning because I was scheduled for an annual checkup, my first in several years. For some reason I think I expected to have heart disease and cancer and MS and damn near anything else scary I could think of. But it looks like my health is still amazingly good. Blood pressure a little high, but nothing to panic about (142/96, and that's despite the fact that I was scared stiff). They took a lot of blood, and will run a bunch of standard tests for chunky guys like me, but everything looks good. Including my EKG.
Funny thing: I didn't bleed after they took the blood - not a drop.
Funny Sebastian story: Sebastian, flight-of-stairs (an old friend from Brooklyn), and I all took the train into Boston this morning. f-o-s had stayed over with us after the party on Saturday, and I took the day off on Monday. Anyway, f-o-s had told Sebastian about her cat (the astonishingly evil devil-cat Snowy), and how she (Snowy) eats cheese and throws up. So in the middle of the train Sebastian suddenly stands up and says, in a clear and penetrating voice:
"One, two, three, four, five, six, THROW-UP!"
