John Lennon, Republican-style

Down at Fresh City, stumbling around in a haze, looking for the coffee I need to get through the day. A familar song on the loudspeakers, but something is wrong.

It's John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)", but it's NOT Lennon singing it. Despite that it's a careful cover; the music sounds identical, and so does the children's chorus. I notice that Yoko's caterwauling is missing, which is an improvement.

But what's this? There's something wrong with the lyrics! Instead of singing "War is over/If you want it/War is over/Now..." the children are singing "Merry Christmas/Merry Christmas/Merry Christmas/Merry Christmas"!

I couldn't get all the lyrics, unfortunately; I wish I could have, because I'd bet cash money that ALL anti-war sentiments have been removed from the song.

Because being anti-war violates the spirit of Christmas, of course.

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!

Sorry but that's so damn frustrating. Take the songs of nearly the biggest anti-war person of a generation and turn his music upside down for their fanatical religious crusade... sigh.

Different Note : Just got the Arisia Program Grid Prospectus. Something is wrong - you're not listed on any of the gaming panels. You need to find out what happened to your paper work (but they DO have you listed for your web design workshop).

I was going to write the obvious: something about John Lennon spinning in his grave. But there really isn't any point in Bushmerica.

Arisia: I contacted Sheila, and it was a mistake. I put down for five more panels, which I'll probably get. I think at least one of them is with you.

It's ironic, there are so many panels that were my suggestions, but they're already full...and I'm AMAZED that ANYONE other than myself wanted to be on a RuneQuest panel. :D
