Sunday, In Photographs
Our day in pictures. Unfortunately I can't post a lot of the photos, even though they were great. I'm not comfortable posting pictures of other people without their permission.

Around 11AM this morning. Later, the temperature got as high as 102 F - in the shade. It was humid as hell, too. I was very glad for our air conditioning.
Shortly after my parents arrived, we realized that one of our cats, Sarah, was missing. We looked everywhere, tearing the house apart, and she simply wasn't in the house. We shook the dry cat food container throughout the house; she always comes running for that. She didn't show. Teri opened up the bread drawer; she always comes running like a maniac whenever it's opened (we don't know why). But she didn't come. We search high and low, literally, from the top floor to the basement. Nowhere. Sebastian was too young to realize what was happening, but Teri and I were both pretty upset.
Teri and my father both went up and down the street, searching, but had no luck. Finally Teri came back, all hope lost, and all I could tell her was that Sarah had found her way to us once (when we first met and adopted her - she simply walked up to Sebastian in the back yard), so all we could do now was keep hoping. I could see Teri's heart was broken, and I was pretty sad myself.
Of course, five minutes later Sarah strolled out from behind the couch as if nothing had happened. We'd both looked behind there, but the couch is old and there are several places where she could literally have climbed inside the damn thing. Which, apparently, she had.
So much to tell! We squeezed 18 lemons and made lemonade. I made and grilled 20 hamburgers. Teri grilled a ton of vegetables. Everything was delicious.
Then we put the sprinkler out in the middle of the yard and let the four kids run around it to cool off. They went delerious with joy.

For some reason Sebastian insisted on wearing his heavy Bob the Builder winter boots for a while. I don't always follow his logic. But he's three, so I should just be glad that he isn't departing for a non-Euclidean dimension.

Another self-portrait that I can stand looking at.

That boy and his boots.

A pause for reflection?

Sebastian and Teri planted some seeds a while ago. They're coming up rather nicely.

So are the string beans that Sebastian germinated in school and then brought home. That's my father in the backround, by the way.

After a long day sweating over the fire (literally), my reward.

For once he fell asleep quickly. Thank goodness!

No remorse from Sarah, of course.
This is the kind of day I wish I could preserve somehow, and live again and again when I felt like it. Photos and my memories are the only way I have to do it.
