Huh?!?

From the November 8th 2005 New York Times editorial:
Mr. Bush cannot fire Mr. Cheney, but he could do what other presidents have done to vice presidents: keep him too busy attending funerals and acting as the chairman of studies to do more harm. Mr. Bush would still have to turn his administration around, but it would at least send a signal to the nation and the world that he was in charge, and the next three years might not be as dreadful as they threaten to be right now.

Huh?!? Just how stupid IS the New York Times editorial board? Do they really think that Bush is calling the shots, or could ever be in a position to make Cheney do anything he didn't want to do?

Come on. EVERYONE knows that if anything, the reverse is true.

Or maybe the NYT just thinks that their readership is stupid enough to believe that. Heck, maybe they're right; if I relied on right-wing aparatchiks like Judy Miller for my news, I'd probably believe that Bush was ultimately in control in Washington.

Either way, I'm really glad that I'm not paying for the Times. What a pathetic joke they've become...
