Children's books: A List

During a long, boring experience today I decided to write down a list of as many good children's books I could think of - not toddler books, but ones that would be appropriate for the ages of, say, eight to fourteen.

That's a rough range, though. I still read all of those books myself. Feel free to make witty comments about my mental age, if you wish. :D
  • Aiken, Joan - Black Hearts In Battersea
  • Allum, Tom - Emperor of Space (vt. "Boy Beyond The Moon")
  • Averill, Esther - Cat Club, The: Or, the Life and Times of Jenny Linsky (series)
  • Brinley, Bertrand R. - Mad Scientist's Club, The (http://www.madscientistsclub.com/)
  • Brock, Betty - No Flying In The House
  • Cameron, Eleanor - Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet, The (series)
  • Collier, James Lincoln - Teddy-Bear Habit, The (sequel: Rich & Famous)
  • D'Aulaire, Ingri & Edgar Parin - D'Aulaires Book of Greek Myths
  • Del Ray, Lester - Runaway Robot, The
  • Fitzgerald, John D. - Great Brain, The (series)
  • Grahame, Kenneth - Wind In The Willows (unabridged please)
  • Keith, Donald - Mutiny In The Time Machine (from Boy's Life magazine)
  • Keith, Donald - Time Machine To The Rescue (from Boy's Life magazine)
  • Kingsbury, Alison Mason - Adventures of Phunsi, The
  • Kipling, Rudyard - Jungle Books, The
  • L'Engle, Madeline - Wrinkle In Time, A
  • Lewis, C.S. - Chronicles of Narnia, The (series)
  • Lofting, Hugh - Story of Doctor Dolittle, The (series; the first book is often censored)
  • Pearl, Jack - Space Eagle, The: Operation Star Voyage (series)
  • Pene du Bois, William - Twenty-One Balloons, The
  • Platt, Kim - Blue Man, The
  • Rockwell, Thomas - How to Eat Fried Worms
  • Rockwell, Thomas - The Portmanteau Book
  • Saroyan, William - My Name Is Aram
  • Snyder, Zilpha Keatley - Black and Blue Magic
  • Speare, Elizabeth George - Witch of Blackbird Pond, The
  • Tolkien, J.R.R. - Hobbit, The
  • Travers, P.L. - Mary Poppins
  • unknown - Doorway Through Space?
  • Vreeland, Alida - Lars & Lisa In Sweden
  • White, E.B. - Charlotte's Web
  • White, T.H. - Sword In The Stone, The

I'd have written comments or even a review for each one, but that would take too long. I might do it anyway, eventually, but for now I'm just slapping the list up here.
