I couldn't resist posting about Mitt Romney over on a WaPo blog.

Romney's in a permanent state of delusion. There's literally no one in the body politic who's a bigger whore - he'd pimp his mother for a shot at the Presidency - but there's no chance in hell that the GOP power brokers would allow him to be the nominee.

What most non-Southern journalists and voters fail to understand is the depth of anti-Mormon feeling among the conservative religious-right base in the South. It is an almost universal article of faith in those circles that Mormons are NOT Christians. Rather than vote for Romney, those voters are more likely to de-pants him and check for a forked tail.

He's a good-looking, utterly vapid stuffed shirt with great hair but not an ounce of principle. He's much less intelligent than he thinks he is, and a LOT less competent. His record as a flip-flopper is in actuality what the GOP portrayed John Kerry's as: proof he's a man who'll change any stand if the price is right.

Don't fall for the "efficient Republican businessman" line; this is a man whose administration took over five months to respond to a simple email. Romney isn't even competent.

As a Democrat, I wish Romney WOULD get the nomination; it's the only way that the spineless Dems would have a prayer of winning the Presidency. Unfortunately Rove et alia are quite aware of that, and won't let Romney in.
