The Never-Ending Story (Health)

Last week (01/26/2007) I went back to the doctor, because my lungs were still not clearing up. My own doctor was on vacation, so I saw someone in the urgent care center.

He prescribed a bunch of stuff:

  • An Albuterol inhaler, to expand my bronchial airways
  • Benzonatate capsules, for my cough; he said they don't always work, but sometimes they help people who get no effect from the codeine cough syrup
  • Moxifloxacin, another antibiotic

He suspects that I might have a touch of something like asthma.

So far I haven't noticed much effect. The inhaler might help a little for a few hours after I use it, but the effect hasn't been strong enough for me to be sure. The Benzonatate capsules seem useless. The Moxifloxacin hasn't made me nauseous, but I think I can blame hell's own set of cramps on it; that made my morning yesterday pretty miserable. Fortunately the cramps have lessened greatly today.

And on another front, my back has gotten bad again these last two days. Nowhere near as bad as it was at the worst, of course, but I am stiff and in a fair amount of pain when I stand up or walk.

On the plus side, I got a lot of sleep last night. Or rather, I went to bed at a reasonable hour; my sleep was pretty disturbed (I woke up about seven or eight times), but I had a lot of dreams. Hmm. I don't know if it's relevant, but I drank a LOT of water last evening and through the night, and I think it helped my breathing a bit.
