Puff
My little guy fell in love today.
I'd made a new CD for him a week or so ago; in fact, I'd mentioned it here. It started with four Harry Belafonte songs, which he loved. Next came a couple of Tom Lehrer songs, from the Electic Company. Sebastian went nuts for those too, and christened the "LY" song "The Vampire Song".
But I'd included a bunch of other songs I'd listened to as a boy on the CD. One of them was Peter, Paul, and Mary's "Puff the Magic Dragon". And today Sebastian totally fell in love with that song. He started singing it again and again - quite nicely - and then started making up a new verse. It began "Puff, the magic dragon, I wish that he was real" - and as far as I know, that's as far as it went.
Sebastian also told us he was going to do something secret, and was rather mysterious about it. Eventually he told us that he wanted us to take him to the seashore today! It's a horribly cold and windy day, so Teri asked him why. I quickly guessed "So you can meet Puff, right?" and he shook his head yes. He also told us that he wanted to fly, and it didn't take long to figure out that he wanted to fly on Puff.
It was just so cute.
He's asleep now. I'm listening to "Puff" on indefinite repeat. And I remember how I felt as a little boy...I wanted to meet Puff, too.
