McCain

People at work were talking about McCain's concession speech. They said it was awfully sincere and honorable, and that if he'd run his campaign like that all the way through, he might have won. That was the "real" McCain, they said.

I had to answer.

"But that's not the 'real' John McCain! During the 2000 election in the south he started talking about the Confederate flag, how it was a valid expression of 'Southern pride' and should be flown from the statehouses there. But after Bush creamed him in the primaries, he wrote a book saying that he'd betrayed his ideals and dishonored himself in the heat of the moment, for political gain.

And then he did the same thing again in the 2008 election! As soon as he was under pressure, he went straight for the mud like a pig returning to its slops. If you claim to have high standards but drop them every time they become inconvenient, you don't have high standards. You're just a whore with delusions of purity."
