Question for the Post
Washington Post associate editor Robert G. Kaiser is taking questions right now online. I couldn't resist responding to one of his comments. Somehow, though, I don't expect that my question will meet the Post's "high journalistic standards".
Under Bill Clinton FEMA changed from a national joke into one of our most effective agencies. Under George W. Bush it turned into an international disgrace. Yet much of the press and you yourself in your reply to Bethesda, Md. imply that both administrations are equally guilty. A stained dress is equal to deception about WMD that led to thousands of deaths.
At what point will you give up "He said, she said" horse-race journalism, and start holding the government's statements up against the facts?
And how can you expect anyone to take the media seriously when you continue to ignore the basic principles of journalism?
