The Difference?

What's the difference between numb and calm?

Well, I would say numb is more of a non-feeling. Like, if something bad happens and you don't feel anything at all.

1) Deprived of the power to feel or move normally; benumbed: toes numb with cold; too numb with fear to cry out.
2) Emotionally unresponsive; indifferent: numb to yet another appeal.

Calm is more of a composed thing. Like, you can be in turmoil on the inside, but have a calm facade. Or, be calm, you have come to terms with it.

1) Not excited or agitated; composed: The President was calm throughout the global crisis.

Thanks for the definitions - although I'm still in a quandry. This morning I suddenly realized that I wasn't sure which I was, numb or calm.

And I'm still not sure.

Kind of an unusual situation for me...I think.

Hmmm.....

Calm is how you hope to be in a crisis.
Numb is how you are after a crisis.
