Tonight Sebastian looked at me seriously.
"If I met a turkey, I would never hurt him, Daddy."
My mental wheels spun frantically for a second. Had there been something on TV? Some cartoon with someone chasing a turkey with an axe? Probably.
"You wouldn't, baby boy?"
"No. I'd just pat him."
"Good for you, Sebastian!"
Of course I didn't tell him that he'd eaten turkey that afternoon. He hasn't made that connection yet.
I hope that all my American readers had (and have) a happy Thanksgiving. As for non-American readers...you're not living under George W. Bush's kleptocracy, so I imagine your happiness is already assured. :D

Also recalling some Mighty Hunters at college who did find a wild turkey but ended up not getting it because they both didn't know for sure where the other guy was and didn't want to risk blowing them away.
