They do, of course, but not necessarily in the way that you think. We need more social activity than just one other person can provide. And of course in our case, there are a lot of things that Teri and I can't do together. She's getting into roleplaying, a bit, but we can't do a game with just the two of us. And I don't think she'll ever be into watching MST3K, or Babylon 5, or that sort of thing. Nor can I discuss science fiction literature with her. She's on the edge of fandom, but only on the edge.
Which is fine, of course. But it means that I speak a language that she doesn't, metaphorically speaking, and that she isn't interested in learning. I'm sure that there are ways in which I can't satisfy all her social needs, either. That's natural.
