Book Blog?

I've been thinking of starting a book blog, but I'm not sure what service to use. Facebook is out of the question, of course. So is GoodReads, or any other site owned by Amazon. I'm tempted to start one here on DreamWidth, now that I think of it! It's one of the few blog sites I can think of that's not owned by one of the big tech companies.

The downside is that there's no way to allow searching by title or author or anything like that, as far as I know.

I'm not sure if this answers your question but Dreamwidth users can do a global search for content by using the search box on the homepage or by going here.

Oops, it looks like I misunderstood how you wanted your content to be searched for.

It occurs to me, though, that tags could help. If I include tags for the author and genre in each post, readers could use them to sort through content on my journal only.

You're absolutely right, you can do that with tags.

If your settings allow it, paid users can search your journal for specific content as well.
