McAfee MIA

My troubles with McAfee's SpamKiller began no later than September 26th, and actually probably closer to September 20th. Today is October 27th. The problem is still not solved. McAfee has still not written back; I guess they haven't been able to find an expert on SpamKiller.

If the McAfee doesn't work, use something else. There are plenty of fish in the sea. How about F-secure virus scanner or Zonealarm by Zone Labs. I use them and I have never had any problems. If they are not suitable for you there dozens of totally free virus shields all over internet.

I already use ZoneAlarm, and will probably upgrade it to ZA Pro soon. As for the virus thing...McAfee's VirusScan isn't the problem - their SpamKiller is. And it's not even that good, because a lot of spam is getting through and good messages are being trashed.

So I'll uninstall SpamKiller and switch to a bayesian filter. Unfortunately I may have to also switch to Outlook, since there are no spam filters for Agent. Well, I could configure Popfile to work with Agent, but by all account SpamBayes is superior.

But it still pisses me off that I gave $65 to McAfee and have received such lousy service. So even though the virus software has been good and I've been using it for years, I'll be dropping it as well when it expires.

Your problems with McAfee are only just beginning- wait til you try to get rid of it. I had Virusscan Online which with Security Center behaved exactly like the Trojans and diallers I was paying them to keep out- uncommanded dial-up on boot-up whether Auto-update is disabled or not etc. There is NO UNINSTALL!!!!! I had to use regedit to get rid of the bastards and believe me I'm no techie. Now I have AVG and ZoneAlarm, free, no hassle to upgrade and they work
