You're funny :-) You have an almost mesmerising quality to your voice.
I know how awful you can feel when your children say something like that. I shouted at Nathan for trying to eat a bit of cactus in the front room (he's in the phase of eating or trying to eat absolutely EVERYTHING) and his bottom lip quivered and he gave me this look like, "Mummy! How could you?" and it just broke my heart.
Are you sure you don't want me to have a swelled head? :D
The thing with Sebastian was that it was a misunderstanding - I know that much, although I have no idea what he was thinking (which is unusual).
It was late, and we needed to go out and get him some dress socks for the funeral the next morning. We couldn't decide if we should all go (in which case he'd fall asleep in the car), or if just one of us should go - and if so, which one.
As usual, he'd been saying that he wanted me to stay with him. Then Teri asked him flat out which of us he wanted to stay.
"No, no, no, honey," I said. "Do NOT ask him that question!"
Because no matter what he answered, it would hurt one of us (and I figured it would be her again). And in any case, he's four; we shouldn't be putting that sort of decision in his hands. Nor do we want him to be making that sort of comparison, because frankly favoritism like that is poison for a family relationship.
Somehow, when Sebastian heard me tell Teri not to ask him that question...well, I'm not sure what he thought I was saying. But he got absolutely furious and very upset. He made a very angry face and shouted "Bad Daddy! Go away!". Then he started crying. No matter how I tried to explain, he wouldn't listen. So I went to Wal-Mart, feeling kind of sad.
I knew it was ridiculous, of course, but it still hurt a little.
