The Story of Doctor Dolittle
I hadn't thought that the copyright had expired on the Doctor Dolittle stories, but nonetheless I've found an online copy of the first in the series: The Story of Doctor Dolittle.
And not only is it the original uncensored version, but it even includes some text that wasn't in the first copy that I ever read. In my copy, Prince Bumpo's eyes didn't change color.
I wonder what else is available in the Free Library?
PS - I just found a link to some interesting commentary about the censorship of the Dolittle books. It's more extensive than any I had read before, but it's still incomplete; I'm going to drop a note to the author.
