Rules of the game?

When I write to you, and you don't respond, then the ball's in your court. I won't write again until I hear from you.

That's reasonable, isn't it?

If it was me it'd depend on how much I wanted to contact the person. If I was fairly keen, then I'd maybe once write more. If I got no response then, I wouldn't bother any further.

It sort of depends on the situation.

Example: I ordered a used DVD from a vendor via Amazon. I got confirmation of the order and then have heard nothing from them for a month. I emailed them to find out why it hasn't arrived. Three days pass. I can now write again, in hope of clearing up the problem (because maybe my note got lost in their spam filters or something), write a bad seller feedback (and probably never see the disc or a refund), write a complaint to Amazon (and hope they respond) or do nothing and end up out the money and the product.

Me, I made the second attempt at contact via email on the subject and assumed the first was overlooked, lost or accidentally deleted.

Oh, I was talking about personal stuff; if a company screws me, they're not going to get away with ignoring only one email from me. :D

I'd go by that if I thought the delivery system was reliable. If not (and email sometimes isn't) I might write a second note to find out, or try another contact method.

If I really want an answer I'll write again - but sometimes I change how I phrase the question quite a bit.
