Where the hell is everybody? No one on chat, no one online...it's like Carnival of Souls.

Just got a call from the dentist's office. They had to reschedule my appointment, again. Apparently there may have been been major contamination of the water supply in Blackstone (MA) by "vandals", using an unknown substance.

For some reason the vandals have not been reported to have had green hair, red grinning mouths, and chalk-white faces.

Police don't even want town residents to flush their toilets. I'm not kidding!

Incidentally, Blackstone is next to Woonsocket (on the other side of the state line, of course). Teri grew up there, and her mother still lives there.

Anyway, the soonest appointment they could give me in a 5PM or later slot was August. I'll probably be put on a cancellation list, though, so if anyone cancels earlier they'll call me. That's not likely to work out well for me, though, because I work in Boston. I can't just hop over there without any warning.

Maybe I'll buy one of those really good electric toothbrushes in the meantime. God, my teeth hurt right now. But it's only because of this hellish sinus infection.

I guessed as much. It's just odd; all the online places I know are just empty. It's creepy!

I'm also a little weirded out because, well, I was a little nervous about the dental appointment. This feels a bit like Chinese water torture.

Yep, the blackstone thing even made the afternoon NPR news. No mention of joker costumes or V for Vendetta costumes.

I've been in and out, did my shopping run and then afterwards needed to pick up Kiralee's book at the Library (the Left Hand of Darkness) for game research.

Back now, but I'm on my own machine so no chat.

I did do some journal entries prior to noon, including some news clippings... so it's not like I was silent today.

i hate sinus infections that affect pain in your teeth. wow i havent seen a thing about it on the news (msnbc) but i havent watched much.

It strikes me as odd that water supplies are that poorly protected; goodness, this isn't a new notion after all.

Betting that it'll turn out that snot-nosed teens are behind it.

Thing is, ya know, if you want to get in the news it is a whole lot easier to do so by doing something destructive and hostile than by doing something generous and nice. Thus people do stupid-ass destructive things.
