A Reverse October Surprise

Just a random thought from a conversation I just had with a friend: it wouldn't be surprising if some US troops get kidnapped in Iraq or Afghanistan before too long.

If that does happen, I see one of two possibilities:

1. If it is a genuine kidnapping, the Bush people will quite possibly try to keep it secret. Either that, or spin it in some way that blames the whole thing on the Democrats - possible, but difficult even for them.

2. The second possibility is a reverse October surprise, i.e. the kidnapping will actually have been performed by people working in some way for BushCo. After a ton of media attention heroic Bush forces would then "rescue" the kidnappees (including at least one attractive young woman, probably, a blonde if possible) just in time to give Bush a victory at the polls - in other words, a sort of reverse version of the October Surprise that Bush senior helped arrange on behalf of Ronald Reagan.

I may be wrong on both guesses, of course, but if I'm not, you read it here first! :D
