Spam

Here's an amusing bit of spam that wiggled its way through the Gmail filters:
Dear friend,
I found yoaur apicture on one of the websites, can we talk to
each other? I might be coming to your place in few weeks.
This woauld be a great opportunity ato meet each other.
Btw, I am a wboman. I am 25. Drop me a line at [deleted].

The funny thing? The sender is named "Douglas".

For some reason the thought of a woman named Douglas is extremely amusing to me.

Yeah. It's a slow day here. How's your day going?

Here's one I got the other day, e-mailed it to Scott Adams (the chap who does the Dilbert cartoons) since I got it sent to me after commenting on his journal. The chap seems to think that I can get him a job at General Motors:

Hi Rob Weeks

I would like to thank you for your time in reading my note. I looked you up during my web research on GM from dilbertblog.typepad.com

I am a fan of GM, not of what it is today, but what it was till the 70s and early 80s, a LEADER in the automotive field. Today GM is highly diversified but far from creating or maintaining the unique flavor it offered then. Based in Dubai, UAE, I drive a 92 Fleetwood (Cadillac) and revel at the mastery of that car, for GM old IS gold.

I train for Nokia Academy, besides freelance as an HR / performance consultant. If you think it is appropriate I can email you my profile. I would like to be a part of GM's design / product development / marketing team where the "works" happen and the future is shaped.

Can you guide me further in making my dream of driving the future of GM, happen? I will be most obliged for your assistance and guidance.

Regards

General Motors

Yesterday

Today &

Tomorrow

Yesterday

"The" leader in autos

ONLY company to date with a customer focused product line (Chevs, Buick, Cadillac among others)

Chevy, Suburban, generics for cars / SUVs

Comfort leaders

Technology leaders (first to introduce many of the power options taken for granted today back in the 60s)

Struggled against the "Jap" chaps on counts of quality, fuel efficiency, design and today, even technology

Today

Most GM brands lost leadership position

Perceived as me-too for some Japanese models

Outsourcing to reduce costs

Losing out on style, uniqueness

Acquired diverse mix of European brands

Losing focus

Tomorrow

GM is the Leader again, but HOW?

Focus on key criteria

Style

Body

Interior

Instrument cluster

Functionality

Safety

Smoothness/ luxury

Sporty

Fuel Efficiency

Costing

Wow - how impressively loony! It's not quite spam, though, is it? Sounds more like an extremely clueless attempt to network. :D
