The (Computer) Curse

A few days ago I posted about my cable modem going bad. Teri picked up the new one last week, and I installed it with no problems.

Except that almost immediately, it started experiencing the exact same intermittant outages as the old modem.

I called customer support, and they think it must be the external cable wiring because the cable box itself is showing a loss of signal during the outages. So they're sending someone to check everything tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be trying to neaten up the den tonight, I guess. It's a pigsty right now.

You know I had a similar problem a while back. I bought my own modem, I tried three different modems from the cable company. Still had the connection cutting out intermittently. It turned out to need re-grounding. There's a little grounding block that the cable is hooked to outside and mine had become corroded and wasn't grounding properly so the signal was becoming corrupted. Make sure they check that because I had four guys come out before one of them checked it.

I know my comment was late. But if they come back again... you know.
