A God-Loving Man

You may have heard that saintly, moralistic first-term Republican* Senator David Vitter (R-LA), noted crusader and major supporter of an amendment to ban same-sex marriage, has been patronizing the D.C. Madam. And I don't mean he's talking down to her.

But unfortunately the story is already over almost before it began, because Vitter has announced that he has discussed it with God, and God has forgiven him.

After all, who are we to argue with the deity? If God is okay with it, than it must be - wait a minute.

Do you think that "God" could be Senator Vitter's nickname for his penis?

"I discussed it with God, and He said to go ahead and bang that whore!"

"Brandi, you've been a naughty girl. Kneel down before God!"

"God says the water sure is cold. Deep, too!"

"Doctor, why is God burning and dripping pus?"

Thank goodness we taxpayers are paying for the best medical care for God! I'd hate for anything to happen to him.

* - I put "Republican" in boldface because (as has become SOP in reporting this sort of scandal about Republicans) many major media outlets (including the AP story) have been underplaying or even forgetting to mention the fact that Senator David Vitter, R-LA, adulterer and hypocrite, is a Republican.

Yeah, it's amusing how it's usually the highest and mightiest rollers who fall the hardest, isn't it?

I seem to remember this guy was denying up and down a bluestreak back in 2004 about this, that he was involved. Surprise surprise surprise.

I can just imagine all the other names in that Madam's book that people are desperately trying to block out.

I heard that Dick Cheney was on that list, which is one of the reasons that publication of it was blocked by court order. Don't know if that's true, though.

Someone pointed out that every time one of these moralizing hypocritical Republicans gets caught with a hooker, they play the God card and we're all supposed to forget about it - but Bill Clinton plays around with an intern, and suddenly it's vital that we spend millions of taxpayer dollars to investigate.

As someone else said, maybe the difference is that Bill Clinton didn't have to pay for sex. Image

Oh, I'm certainly a believer in Divine Forgiveness; what I'm not a believer in is taking a Republican politician's word at face value. He went off and said the sort of thing that his constituency might well accept.

Mind you, if it came out that Mike Capuano (my rep) was on the list for dozens of uhh, uses of the Madame's services I'd probably not end up voting against him for it. Not because I'm necessarily all that thrilled with him, but because the Republican is likely to be worse and even if not they'd be supporting a Party that at this point in history is pretty much the enemy of the continued progress and survival of the nation. Of course in this district an incumbent Democrat is in for as long as they want; usually there is no serious opposition and, hmm, actually I tend to vote for a third party person if there is one just because I don't think that it is healthy that there is no meaningful opposition for most legislative races (state and Federal) in Massachusetts.

Now, when I caught this on "Good Morning America" there was some kind of comment about how the Senator was held up as an exemplar of Louisiana moral values; that made me laugh, figuring, "Yeah, that might be true." It's the home of New Orleans and Mardi Gras after all, and this guy's hardly the first famous sort from there to have a sex scandal.
