Sebastian's sobbing now, because he's covered with little red dots. Teri and I both suspect that it's chicken pox. We'll be taking him to the doctor in a couple of hours.
It's either chicken pox, or maybe measles. If the dots are super close together, it's measles. Futher apart, it's chicken pox. I *highly* recommend getting some oatmeal shampoo and slathering him up in the tub. Also, a little fly swatter might help him not itch (and thus, not scar).
They're not that close together, so it's probably chicken pox or impetigo. He had a vaccination for chicken pox, but I know that's not 100% effective. I don't believe there's a vaccination for impetigo.
I wonder if they still recommend Phisohex for chicken pox? I can still remember the smell of that.
So far, he's not very itchy. But they're just dots, not blisters - so far.
That's a very good point! I had impetigo myself as a kid. I remember that I couldn't swallow the pills, so my mother crushed the pills and put them in chocolate ice cream. I couldn't stand the taste, though, so I'll run off and pick out the pill pieces and throw them away.
Good idea, but he hasn't been to daycare in months. In fact, I'm wondering how he could have caught this - he hasn't been around other kids much for quite a while! Except my parents took him to the Museum of Science last week...I should probably call my parents.
