Sloppy Joes

I used to make sloppy joes once in a while for dinner. For some reason I always had steak fries with them; I don't know why.

But Teri doesn't like sloppy joes, so I haven't made or had them in...my goodness...it must be eight years now.

She had a tai chi class tonight, though, and it was going to be just me and Sebastian, so I said "what the hell" and made sloppy joes. He loved them! Ate two of them, and after he was done he asked me if I'd teach him how to make sloppy joes "when I'm six". He'll be six later this week, so I guess he's in a rush.

Being a goofy person I elected to look up sloppy joe on the Wikipedia. It noted a bunch of alternate names and of them I'd heard "Wimpies." It indicated that in the Dakotas and eastern Montana they're sometimes called "slushburgers" but I never heard them called that back in South Dakota. I do recall they were called "steamburgers" which the Wikipedia doesn't note although it lists "steamers" as a name in Maryland. I recall somebody in college having another name which I can't quite remember; something with a "b" I think.

Haven't had 'em in some time; I think at your Malden place actually.

Hmmmm.... sloppy joes. I haven't made or eaten any of those in about 7 years now myself. Not since I stopped eating beef for the most part (aside from the rare mongolian beef dish at a chinese resteraunt gathering or a kosher hot dog one every 6 months or so).

I miss eating beef, in some ways.... and am conflicted over it. I stopped because my doctor had said it would raise my cholesterol etc. but since they they've been telling me more my cholesterol isn't so much from what I eat that has it as from what my body does with what intake that doesn't have it that my body creates triglycerides and cholesterol from. Very confusing... but they want me to stay away from beef intake anyway but can't give a decent reason why.
