If you can dedicate the month to it - yes. If you'll be continually frustrated by interruptions - no. Or, you could start writing that novel anyway, and if it doesn't get finished by the end of the month - well, you're that much further towards having a finished novel, and that's got to be a good thing.
I suspect that you will end up disappointed, as you rarely can schedule that far ahead from what I've seen, and seem to be unable to even keep up a regular writing pattern in your journal never mind the 50k+/- words needed for nanowrimo.
I know I can't do it, and I tend to pump out a few hundred words a day on one or more projects. 50k is a lot of output unless you can put 3 hours a day in on it.
From looking lightly at the Wikipedia article on it, well, if you don't take it too seriously it might be fun. If you expect to produce a publishable work or something that people will praise, probably not a good idea 'cause a month probably isn't enough time to produce a decent novel given time constraints and so on. It doesn't really seem intended to be something serious, probably less so even than the 24 Hour Comic thing.
About the only way I'd do something like that is if I didn't mind coming up with something comparable to the "Eye of Argon" really. :)

No. 50K quality words in one month is too much.
Pretending to do a NaNaWriMo is more interesting insofar you ensure that you write good material everyday on one topic for a month.

I always thought it would be better in February or March. Oh well.
