I shouldn't be surprised about this, but the Republican National Committee is now writing to television stations and threatening them in order to silence political opposition - in this case, anti-Bush ads by Moveon.org. This sounds a lot like a criminal act to me, particularly since the RNC effectively controls the legal system. Threats from the RNC lead counsel bear particularly heavy implications.

I'd really like to donate a little money to Moveon.org to help fund the running of those ads (and maybe a lawsuit against the RNC), but I fear that if I did, my name would be put on a donor list and I would be bothered forever. It's too bad there isn't some way to donate with the option to NOT be contacted by the recipient...
