A Scuffle at the Library
A few days ago Sebastian and I were at the library getting out a ton of books. I picked up a lot of Discworld and a couple of graphic novels, and he picked up a couple of books too.
When we came up to the check-out desk two of the librarians said "Hi, Sebastian!". It always amuses me that everyone seems to know him.
As we were checking out three people came up on the other side of the counter next to us (not behind the counter, but further down). One was a teen-aged boy, one was an adult male, and one was an old man with a long, pointy white beard and a hat.
"Can you get someone to take this guy out of here?" the teen asked, "He's been bothering us, and he just hit me!"
The old man started talking, but I couldn't understand what he was saying. Apparently the librarians knew him, though, because the atmosphere immediately became very tense. Several librarians came out from a back room and were heading towards the scene, and the librarian who was checking us out leaned towards us and whispered "Get out now - take him around the back stacks and out the door. Don't go near them!"
I took her advice and hustled Sebastian out as quickly as I could. I've no idea what happened in the library after that. It seemed to make an impression on Sebastian, though, since he was still talking about it a couple of days later.
