Sentenced to Death
I'm seeing tons of "Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Death" and "Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Hang" headlines on the news.
What wouldn't I give to see the same headlines about Bush/Cheney and the rest of that gang of torturers...

I don't much care about hurting these guys; really, I don't. As I've said about my basic philosophy in relation to criminals, I don't much care about venegence or revenge; I want the criminal where they can't hurt anybody. If the criminal is mentally disturbed (as seems to be the case for pedophile criminals, for instance) put 'em away for life in a secure mental facility. Don't torture them, don't put them in with murderers, heck, let them have a more or less comfortable existance but just keep them away from where they can hurt people. If they're a regular crook, give them an approrpriate punishment and if they should be imprisoned keep them out of society as long as is needed to make them safe to be around, unless they are irrevocably dangerous in which case they should never again walk freely.
I have no desire to kill off Bush and Cheney and Company or to see them hurt; we're not Conservative talking heads and we really shouldn't be going for the pointless revenge thing. I just want them neutralized; out of power both publically and behind the scenes.

Do you think this will make any difference to the elections or are people more interesting in the war, rather than Saddam's fate?

But my fear is that it doesn't matter. My fear is that everything right now is being pushed to giving the Republicans just enough of a boost in the polls to make their theft of the election plausible.
Paranoia? I guess. But we don't know what's going on in the election machines, and every study done has shown that it's pitifully easy to steal elections with those machines...most of which are made and run by companies owned by heavy-duty Republican supporters.
I just don't know.

I find it extraordinary that the US doesn't have a independent electoral commission to stop such abuses. But then again, if the abuse supports those in power, why would they change things.
It's a bit technical, natch, but the following Ars Technica article explains in some detail how an election could be rigged.
