My first political call

It may be hard to believe, considering how much I talk about politics, but I just made my first political call. I was surprisingly nervous, but I called the Obama campaign to urge him to take every possible action to oppose the FISA immunity bill - and I specifically mentioned filibustering.

The woman on the other end was pleasant. She told me that the bill was before the House, not the Senate; I told her I realized that (and I do), but that when it DID come before the Senate, I wanted the Senator to do more than just speak against the bill.

I told her that I'd planned to make my first political contribution to the Obama campaign, but that it will instead be going to ActBlue (which is true). She read me a statement from Obama that when he's President, he won't allow warrantless spying on Americans, and will respect the Constitution.

"Those are wonderful sentiments," I said, "but while he's still a Senator, I want to see him take every possible action to stop the FISA bill."

The number for his campaign is (866) 675-2008, if you feel like calling. Dial 6 when you hit the menu, and then 0 to speak with someone.

Update: A little later I called Speaker Pelosi's office and gave them the same message. I had to keep dialing to get through, because the line was busy for a while. The operator quickly dumped me into voicemail.

It turns out that that whore Pelosi was voting "Aye" at about the same time I was leaving my message. So she and Hoyer and every other faux-Democrat can go fuck themselves. I'll donate to ActBlue to throw their sleazy, DINO asses out of office.
