A Message to Obama

I just sent this to the Obama campaign. I had to sign up and give them my email/contact info in order to send it.

Not only has the Senator lost my vote for supporting telecom amnesty - and let's not pretend here, it's quite obvious what he's doing - but I will lobby as many people as I can to vote for someone who will actually DEFEND the Constitution - probably the Green candidate. I'm a lifelong Democrat, but no Democrat who supports this obscene distortion of the 4th Amendment will ever get a dime from me again. I'll donate to ActBlue instead.

Thanks, Senator. You just took away my hope.

I then marked their "welcome" message in my Gmail inbox as spam. There doesn't seem to be a way to unsubscribe, unfortunately.

I got another email from the fucking Obama campaign today, and this time there was an option to unsubscribe. So I did, with the following optional comment:

Senator Obama's flip-flop on telecom amnesty and his willingness to help the Bush administration cover up their ongoing wholesale violations of the Fourth Amendment have rendered him unacceptable to me as a candidate. He has lost both my vote and my support. I'll donate to the ACLU and ActBlue instead, and will vote for a REAL progressive.

My Constitutional rights are not subject to negotiation.
