Mysterious Disappearance

When Teri and I took our old queen-sized mattress out of the house last week, we put it in the trash pick-up area next to our driveway. We weren't thrilled about putting it out there so early (trash is picked up on Tuesday morning), but there wasn't any place in the house where we could keep it.

Strange thing: on Sunday afternoon we went out for a drive with Sebastian. A few hours later we came back, and the mattress was gone!

It's kind of creepy.

One of the things I miss about College Station (Texas) was the free furniture.

See, at the end of every semester lots of students would dump furniture they didn't want to move out by their dumpsters, or out on the street where the trash guys come. Grabbing a truck on moveout day and cruising around looking for upgrades to yoru furniture is a fine Aggie Tradition that I miss. You could find some really excellent items in great condition sometimes, too.

I actually paid for a couch last year. I almost felt dirty doing it.

Heh. At my college we picked up our furniture in abandoned houses. I still remember one time when we snuck into the (really, abandoned, I'm not kidding) house next door with a flashlight and grabbed some nice pieces...I got a great mirror (since smashed, alas) and a nice tall set of drawers which I still have.
