World of Warcraft trial: Day 3

Day 3 was a learning experience. unquietsoul5 showed me around, cast spells to help me live through combat, and gave me advice; I was able to get my fighter up to level 4, and got out of the immediate area of the starting Abbey. It was a lot of fun.

I learned two things:

First, the game is a lot more fun when you're playing with someone else.

Second, the game is a time-sink. Before I knew it I was really tired, and when I checked the time I was horrified to see that it was 11:33. I'm dead tired today! From now on I'm keeping a clock in view when I play at night, and I'm going to sleep by 10:30. I need my sleep! :D

The people who've "been around a while" can get to level 10 in a day. I know, I've done it several times. Did Unquiet give you any gold to help you along with armor and bags? I usually give noobs about 10G and 4 silk bags to help them out at the start.

He's on a trial account, can't trade yet. I grouped up my lowest level pc (15) with him and set it so I passed on all the drops.

I'm playing a human fighter named OmacBlade on the Maelstrom server. He didn't give me gold, but he let me loot the bodies. Money is a bit tight, but I'm working on it.

A human warrior? Mining and Smithing. It's the standard for that type of character. You get to make your own weapons & armor and make things for the AH.

Also... have you gotten down into Golshire yet??? If you have, and have taken mining, there are ore deposits that run the hillside east towards Redridge so you don't have to go south to the mine for ores. Just run back & forth along the ridge.

if you're looking for gold, I'd actually suggest picking up two gathering professions, as opposed to doing the crafting yourself at this point. Because you're joining the game at a later stage, you won't find such a ready market for crafted goods (many players can either make their own items on an alt, or know people who can) but there is always a market for lowish/mid-level gathered items. Herbalism is quite good (because potions are consumable), and mining is good as well because it produces both metal and gems.

Obviously, though, if you enjoy crafting, then you should. But if you just need gold right now, you'll make more selling gathered items than you would by selling the items you can craft with them. You can always eventually drop one of the gathering professions and pick up a crafting one, further down the leveling road.
