WoW

Well, I picked up the World of Warcraft Battle Chest (including both WoW and WoW: The Burning Crusade, along with a couple of strategy guides that I didn't particularly want). By combining some gift certificates, a 10% off coupon, and a $5 off coupon I was able to get the whole thing for five bucks cash.

(I've also downloaded the Guild Wars trial; I'll install it and give it a try before too long.)

So now it's time for me to ask, though: Who here plays WoW? I'd like to add you to my friends list. And if you know of a good (and "good") group for the Horde, specifically the Tauren, please ket me know!

I can see that it's definitely a good idea to adventure with a party if you possibly can - some quests are just hell to do solo. What's a good way to get a party together quickly on WoW? Just look for PCs that are the same level as you, maybe?

I am. Scorch8 is also. Misterbaldy was, but he had to quite because of Targets non-fraternization policy(long story there), Rougewench, and about half of my Flist.

But if you want me to post, I'm sure a few would game with you.

Non-fraternizing?!? What the hell?

So what server are you on? Are you Horde, or Alliance?

Yeah, apparently he was in-game and another Target worker was in the same guild as he was, and the worker posted screen caps of them on the bulliten board at work. So he was called into Corp offices, and asked a lot of questions he really didn't want to answer. And it got really ugly. Apparently you're not suppose to even talk to another employee when away from work.

It was so traumatizing that it caused him to delete his characters and cancel his acct. And because of this he can't play WoW, ever. Or at least until he gets a better job somewhere else.

I'm on about a dozen servers running mostly Alliance characters.

I play, but am on European servers and we're not allowed to fraternize. (unlike battle.net with Diablo and Diablo 2) Which is why you'll see me respond to WoW posts, but never see me in game. :(

So much for world unification! Oh well, maybe Diablo 3 will be more effective - if it ever comes out. :(

On second thought...

Which server are you on? And which character is your main, and I'll come to you.

All my characters but one are on Maelstrom. As for my main characters...my highest-level is a 12-level mage called Omacmage, but my highest-level Horde character is a 10th-level Tauren shaman called Omacsham. Yes, I need to start coming up with better names. :D

I have a friend on the Alliance side that I play with, but not in the Horde. I also just started up a Draenei hunter, which is quite interesting. Is it generally considered a good idea to just concentrate on one or two characters? I'm kind of tempted to try out as many different races and classes as possible.

Play what you're comfortable with. What feels right to you.

Then go make whatever you want and experiment.

I mainly run fighters and hunters.

But I also like druids and I put the "War" back in Warlock.

But I primarily like running fighters over mages.

What "feels" right to you???

And do a search for Wowmatrix to get and update your addons. I love it! Or I can send it to you in an email.

Are add-ons legal?

Oh yes, definately. In fact WoW does come with a few Addons.

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns is where everything needs to be put into.

But whether the addon will work or not, with your version of WoW, is another thing. I was a HUGE fan of the Gatherer addon until they stopped updating the versions to work with the current version of WoW.

However the real bugger is finding those that will 1. Work with WoW and 2. Not conflict with any other Addon.

My favorite addons are: Farm-It, Carbonite and Auctioneer.
