Valentine's Day
Feb. 10th, 2006 08:36 amI've been reading questions on Advicenators, and as you might guess, about a million of them are from clueless teens angsting over Valentine's Day.
That day was a source of torture for me between the ages of seven and thirty-three (and there was one year in college that was particularly hellish). Now it's only painful, although at least some of the reason for the pain is different (i.e. I have no money and can't afford a Valentine's Day present).
But in the long years that I suffered, there was something that I would say every Valentine's Day. I was a big fan of Peanuts - Charles Schultz's comic strip, of course - and this is from one of the mid-era strips:
"I know that nobody likes me. Why do they have to have a Valentine's Day to EMPHASIZE it?"
