I feel icky and uncomfortable with much of the world this morning. I feel forced to consider things that I don't want to consider. For example, maybe I should de-friend a bunch of people.

In other news, Sebastian is going to the doctor for his annual checkup later this morning, and the odds are that he will get some vaccinations. I think that might bother me more than it bothers him, because it reminds me that he will suffer fear and pain and sadness in his life, and there's nothing I can do about it.

That is all.

Bush signs bill to interrogate and prosecute suspected terrorists

What a relief! At last we can declare victory over the ancient and quaint right of habeas corpus and the annoying right to be free from torture. The American public can sleep easier, too, knowing that all members of the Bush administration are now immune to trial for war crimes.

Congress has now given George W. Bush and Dick Cheney more power than King George had during colonial days. But we can trust them and all of our future leaders not to abuse that power, can't we? We all know that politicians NEVER abuse power, after all!
